This is America; We Speak English

This statement makes me so angry. I don’t even know where to begin. 

Reasons that statement is offensive:

• it’s unnecessary. If a family is speaking Spanish behind you in a checkout line, is it really affecting you?
• It’s not true. We don’t have an official language for a reason. Our countries history is based on immigration. Your great grandparents might not have spoken English.
• It’s rude. You’re taking your oppressive beliefs and forcing them onto the general public. 
• It’s inconsiderate. When people come to this country, they leave their lives behind them. The only thing they still have that is familiar to them is their language.

White America and fourth-generation onward have a hard time understanding that English has been a destructive language throughout history. Not to mention, the only reason in my opinion English has become the big stick of world languages is because it’s the language of our government — not our people.

White America likes to talk about the beauty of America as the world’s “melting pot.” What languages do you think the people who gave up everything to come here spoke? English? Sorry. Why should someone be forced to lose a part of their identity in order to speak an oppressive language that makes very little sense?

“If I were to go to Germany, I would learn to speak German.” OK, you conservative scoundrel, you totally got me there. Except not. Germany, as well as Italy, Spain, France, Korea, China, Malaysia, and basically every country in the world, all have one thing in common: They are almost entirely homogeneous. In Germany, a German most likely comes from German parents, German grandparents, and German great grandparents. The United States is not homogenous. We’re ethnically, racially, and linguistically diverse.

I didn’t know that “Freedom of Speech” didn’t apply to people whose speech is in a foreign language. 

When are American boys going to realize that makeup can enhance your natural features by like 2000% and if you took that stick out of your ass and realized that that’s gayer than wearing makeup you’d be a bombshell
